This year’s awards have been revamped from their usual focus to shine a light on the incredible achievements of the care heroes of the coronavirus lockdown. The team at The Croft are delighted to be finalists in the Care Home Hero (Team) category which champions care professionals who pulled together as a team to not only ensure the safety of their residents, but also to support each other’s wellbeing during a time of crisis.Care Home Professional say that “Teams in this category demonstrated enormous dedication, self-sacrifice and bravery by often leaving their families to move in with their residents so that they were properly shielded and providing outstanding care in a mentally and emotionally challenging environment.”Ambient’s Chief Executive, Mark Milton says: “We are incredibly proud of all our staff and their response to the COVID19 pandemic however our team at The Croft in Amersham both embodied and lived our 5i Values in their darkest hour. Despite contracting the virus herself and becoming extremely unwell, Home Manager Louise Foyle-York continued to lead her team remotely. All the staff at the service demonstrated the most amazing courage and resilience, putting the needs of those we support at the forefront throughout the initial crisis and their response beyond. Win or lose, we could not be prouder of them all. They sit amongst their peers nationally as being truly outstanding.” The Croft is a community based residential care home in Amersham that provides care and support to 60 residents including residents with a higher level of specific dementia care needs. Louise, Manager at The Croft says: “I am so proud of my team. To be nominated and shortlisted is amazing! The way the team responded to the Covid-19 crisis has been incredible. They have shown bravery, compassion and have been utterly selfless.
