Dora Matthew’s House National Finalists in Housing with Care Awards

The care team at Dora Matthew’s House, an Extra Care service for older people in Coleford run by national charity, Ambient Support, is through to the national finals of the Housing with Care Awards which celebrates and recognises talent, innovation, excellence, and commitment within the housing with care sector.

Finalists in The Care Team Award category, the team at Dora Matthew’s has demonstrated shared vision, agreed goals, excellent communication processes, personal responsibility for tasks, respect, and a commitment to dignity and privacy for people supported.

Julie Element, Manager at Ambient Support’s Dora Matthews House, says: 

“To make it to the national finals is an incredible achievement. We’re a united team who go above and beyond for the people we support so we’re thrilled to receive this recognition. It’s wonderful to come to work and be part of such a caring and cohesive team.”

There are 10 finalists in The Care Team Award category and the Gala ceremony is taking place Friday 09 June 2023 at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square.

“The team has overcome the challenges of recent years in a united, compassionate, and dignified manner. Manager, Julie Element, exemplifies the very best in care leadership, demonstrating Ambient Support’s values through her daily working practice and inspiring her team of 14 to do so.

“Working together, the team create a clear sense of community within the service, forging strong links with the wider community in Coleford with regular collaboration with the local primary school, faith groups, community groups and local businesses. Staff ensure notable birthdays with tenants and staff are celebrated and activities and events are arranged to help reduce social isolation whilst respecting boundaries and privacy for those who may not wish to join in.

“We’re incredibly proud of the team and truly thankful for their tireless commitment. They sit amongst their peers nationally as being brilliantly outstanding.”
